Our team comprises six financial advisers backed by nine professionals who provide administrative support. Five of our advisers are qualified Chartered Financial Planners and the others are working towards this qualification. This status reflects the highest standards of technical knowledge and ethical practice in our industry.

All Chartered Financial Planners have at least five years’ relevant professional experience (although our advisers have been working in the industry for longer) and are committed to ongoing professional development. This dedication to learning ensures our knowledge is up to date with the latest thinking and approaches to solving today’s financial issues.

Paula Steele

Paula is John Lamb’s managing partner and has worked in the financial services industry for 40 years. Paula’s extensive knowledge and expertise extends across all areas of financial planning, enabling her to deliver comprehensive and cohesive solutions. She uses her experience to resolve particularly complex and challenging issues for individuals and families.

Paula has played an important role in improving standards throughout the financial advice industry over the past few years and contributes regularly to the media. Her professional accreditations include Chartered Financial Planner,  IMC and being an Affiliate of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners).

Paula really values the long term nature of many of her client relationships and remains enthused about building new ones alongside her younger directors and associates.

David Gruenstein

David has worked in financial planning since 1992 and has a broad knowledge across all areas, including pre- and post-retirement planning and tax-efficient investment planning. He has particular expertise in inheritance tax planning, and finding effective ways to structure family assets in order to take advantage of the various reliefs available for mitigating liabilities. David is also authorised as an equity release specialist, helping families and individuals to explore all the options available.

David joined John Lamb in 2011 and previously worked as a financial adviser for several large national firms. He is highly qualified as a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, Chartered Financial Planner and an Affiliate of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners). David graduated from the University of Oxford where he read chemistry.

Donna Buffham

Donna’s areas of expertise include arranging family protection (such as life and health assurance), tax-efficient investment planning, retirement planning (including complex pensions and divorce settlements) and mitigating inheritance tax. She is also authorised as an equity release specialist where she helps individuals and their families explore all options available.

Donna has worked in the financial services industry for more than 20 years. She believes in working in partnership with her clients in order to develop strategies and financial plans that evolve as their circumstances change. Donna’s professional qualifications include Chartered Financial Planner, Institute of Financial Planners and being an Affiliate of STEP. She is also an Associate Member of SOLLA, the Society of Later Life Advisers, and working towards full accreditation.

Crispin Homer

Working across all areas of financial planning, Crispin helps individuals and families plan ahead and find effective ways to manage their wealth. He has particular expertise in pre and post-retirement investment planning and inheritance tax planning. As well as advising private clients, Crispin is Head of Investments, providing direction for our in-house investment proposition.

Crispin has 13 years of experience in financial services. Before joining John Lamb, he worked for several leading UK firms as a financial adviser and has also managed discretionary investment portfolios. Crispin is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), a Chartered Wealth Manager and a Chartered Financial Planner.

Emma Steele

As Operations Director, Emma is responsible for ensuring the flow of information to and from clients is administered and processed smoothly and efficiently, and that the appropriate regulatory systems and controls are in place. Emma also manages John Lamb’s non-advisory activities including business support, finance, human resources, information technology and facilities and is our Money Laundering Reporting Officer.

Emma has extensive experience of financial services, most recently at BNP Paribas Securities Services, a leading provider of administrative services to fund managers. Working with them for over nine years, Emma had a number of responsibilities associated with the administering and pricing of securities for a range of fund managers.

Alex Shields

Alex joined John Lamb in 2014 and is one of our Chartered Financial Planners. He has experience across the full range of financial planning services with a particular focus on pensions. Alex believes the ever-changing legislative landscape offers an opportunity for financial advice to add real value to the circumstances of clients and their families.

Alex has worked in financial services since graduating from Exeter University with an honours degree in Economics in 2008 and he previously spent a number of years at another top city financial planning firm. In addition to being a Chartered Financial Planner, his professional qualifications include being an Affiliate of STEP and a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society.

Amanda Curd

Amanda has over 20 years’ experience working in the financial services industry and over that time has developed an in-depth knowledge of all areas of financial planning.  She specialises in pensions and retirement planning and enjoys working with clients to formulate appropriate solutions and strategies to help them achieve their financial goals. 

Amanda is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, Chartered Financial Planner and affiliate of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners).  She graduated from the University of Hull where she read music.

Laura Moskwa

Laura is a paraplanner and supports our advisers with their recommendations to individuals and families with particular expertise in helping them use equity release facilities. Previously, she was our business support supervisor, and understands everything involved in preparing and administering effective financial plans and reports.

Laura has worked in the industry since 2003 in a variety of administrative and management roles for financial advice firms. She holds the Award in Financial Administration from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and is developing her core technical knowledge and financial planning capabilities by working towards the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.

Abigail Banks

Abigail recently joined John Lamb in 2018 as a Paraplanner. She works closely with the financial advisers, helping them to create and implement comprehensive solutions across an array of financial planning areas.

Abigail graduated from The University of Edinburgh in 2015 with an honors degree in Geography with Social Policy. Prior to joining John Lamb, she worked for Standard Life, one of the largest pension providers in the UK.

She currently holds the Regulated Diploma in Financial Planning and the Certificate in Pension Transfer Advice. To continue developing her technical knowledge, she is working towards becoming a Chartered Financial Planner.

Krishna Gaglani

Krishna joined John Lamb in 2018 as a financial planning assistant. He currently holds the CISI Investment Advice diploma, and will progress to becoming a chartered financial adviser.

He has been working in financial planning and discretionary fund management assisting HNW & UHNW clients, since graduating with an honours degree in Maths from Bath University in 2015. He has worked alongside financial advisers and portfolio managers helping clients with their retirement planning and investment portfolios.
